Dear Members,

The Under 35s are proud to announce the return of our Underwriting Seminar, which will take place in Essex at Orsett Hall on the 14th and 15th of August 2025.

The 2-day seminar benefits those with 2 to 5 years’ experience in reinsurance and those looking for a greater understanding of underwriting techniques. The Underwriting Seminar's main priority is an understanding of key factors and methods to review and price reinsurance.

The seminar covers an introduction to burning cost rating using the chain ladder method with consideration given to IBNR, inflation and portfolio changes. Also covered are exposure rating techniques, Pareto distribution and an introduction to Vendor models.

Further, the course is an invaluable opportunity to meet and interact with other reinsurance professionals from a wide variety of business areas. It allows members the unique opportunity to learn from practicing underwriters who use the skills taught during the course on a day to day basis and places a particular emphasis on combining theory with practice.
