The U35s are pleased to announce the return of our Professional Development Scheme for 2026/2027. The scheme will run for c.6months, starting in mid November, and aims to help develop crucial skills for a career in reinsurance. You will be paired with a mentor, who will provide guidance, advice, feedback and support. Alongside this, you will receive focused training on soft skills such as negotiation techniques, presentation skills and network building, with mentees finishing the scheme with group presentations.
The scheme is focused towards members who have between 1-3 years of experience and are looking to progress to the next stage of their careers.
The below is what to expect from the scheme:
November 17th 2026 – Introductory session with mentees and mentors. Mentees will arrive at 5:30pm to meet the cohort and have an introduction with their mentors, followed by a drinks reception.
January 13th 2027 – First session with mentees. Focus of the session is on presentation skills.
February 16th 2027 – Second session for mentees. Focused on networking and etiquette.
March 3rd 2027 – Third and final session for mentees, focused on negotiation skills and techniques.
April 7th 2027 – Presentation session with all mentees. Each group will be given a particular topic and will do a short presentation. End of scheme drinks will be hosted for both mentees and mentors.
To apply, please fill out the form on the below link to assist in the mentoring pairing process. Selection will be based on an alignment of your requirements with mentors. The deadline for signing up is Friday 23rd October 2026. Any submissions after that date will not be considered for selection.
We ask that you only apply if you are fully committed to attending each session as this scheme is in high demand and we have limited spaces available. Failure to attend will mean you are unable to attend the end of scheme drinks.
